Here at Suncrest, we are FOR THE REGION.

Here's how you can actively be part of that through Suncrest:

Down Syndrome Association of Northwest Indiana

The Down Syndrome Association provides programs and community for families who have children or adults with Down syndrome and other significant disabilities. Suncrest partners with them to create weekly respite nights and activities that support teens and young adults who have aged out of many state services. The team serves every Monday from 5:30–7:00 PM at 2167 Indianapolis Blvd, Schererville, IN. Their impact is seen in the consistent relationships formed, the joy they bring to families, and the reliable support they offer to caregivers who desperately need a break.

Phil’s Friends

Phil’s Friends provides care packages, handmade blankets, decorated boxes, and handwritten notes of encouragement to cancer patients across the country. Suncrest volunteers meet to assemble packages and create encouraging materials that will go to individuals facing cancer treatment. The team serves on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month from 5:30–7:00 PM at 1249 Arrowhead Ct, Crown Point, IN. The impact is national—patients around the U.S. receive tangible love and hope, and volunteers become part of a mission that lifts people during their most difficult seasons.

Sojourner Truth House (STH)

Sojourner Truth House is a resource center supporting women who are homeless or on the verge of homelessness. They provide case management, food and clothing resources, career support, and holistic care. Suncrest teams serve through gardening, sorting donations, prepping for events, and supporting large outreach projects like the annual Walk event. They serve on the 1st Saturday of every month from 8:30–11:30 AM at 410 W 13th Ave, Gary, IN. The impact is deep—helping stabilize women and families, supporting transformative programs, and strengthening a long-standing partnership that rebuilds lives.

Compassion Thursday

Compassion Thursday is Suncrest’s weekly, hands-on outreach to bless individuals and families in very practical ways. Volunteers help distribute gas cards, food cards, resources, prayer, and coaching to people who come needing a next step. This team serves every Thursday from 2:00–4:00 PM at Suncrest. The impact is immediate and tangible—meeting urgent needs, offering hope, and helping people take meaningful next steps toward stability and connection.

Compassion Outreach Team

The Compassion Outreach Team is a rotating group that serves the region through bi-monthly events—from community cleanups and packing projects to seasonal outreach initiatives. This team helps set up events, assist partner organizations, and connect community members to their next step at Suncrest. Impact comes through flexible, high-energy serving opportunities that meet real needs, build relationships, and help people experience the heart of Suncrest outside the building.
