PRIMED FAQs

It’s been great to hear the interest in the PRIMED offering. We’ve had great questions from individuals and at our Info Night.  We wanted to share the list knowing others may have similar curiosities. Most of the questions were about the mechanics of the offering or the future relocation.  Enjoy!
  • Overview:
PRIMED is a one-time special offering to prepare us for our future – and in sync with our 30th Anniversary.  It will position us to take advantage of opportunities as they come in areas like student ministry staffing, a potential residency program for future staff needs, and future facility relocation.

  • When?
We’ll receive the PRIMED offering on the first weekend of November.  You’ll get an envelope in the mail next week that you can turn in that weekend – even if you make your gift online.

  • Who?
Everyone.  The vision for our 30th Anniversary is that we all do something together. With this, even our students and kids are making PRIMED gifts at levels appropriate for them.

  • How much?
In honor of our 30th Anniversary: $30, $300, $3000, $30,000, or $300,0000.  Some of the kids might even do $3.  The key – find the number that is a stretch for you and each of us do our part.

  • Can I give a different amount?
We know some people considering gifts between those numbers in multiples of 3.  One person told us, “I can do $3000 without stretching, but I just can’t do $30,000.  I’m going to stretch and do $9000 -- $3000 for each person in our family.”  We welcome whatever amount is a stretch for you.

  • Can you accept gifts of stock? Can I give my IRA’s required minimum distribution? Can I give from my Donor Advised Fund?
Yes.  These strategies have significant tax advantages and we are helping multiple people with this for their PRIMED gifts.  Call or email Angela Gabbert ([email protected]) for any assistance you need.

  • When will we build the new building?
This is financially dependent on selling our current building at a fair price.  We received an offer last year that we declined because we weren’t ready financially. Ideally, we hope to sell the building in the next 3 years, but nothing is immanent.

  • How long will it take to build?
Once we sell the building, we expect final drawings, town approvals and construction to take 2+ years.

  • Where will we worship while the new building is under construction?
We will work to negotiate ongoing use of our current building on Thursday nights/Sundays in any purchase agreements.

  • Where is the new land?
We own 18 acres debt free on Hwy 231 just east of the “Gates of St John” entrance. It’s the lot with our sign on it.

  • Why relocate?
Our current location has served us well to this point, but the location, visibility, accessibility, building layout and amount of buildable land are limitations for our future impact.  Having a substantially larger piece of land on a main road with the chance to create a new facility that serves our future needs and welcomes newcomers is central to our vision.

  • Why relocate now?
Our particular urgency is because our growth rate has exceeded 20% for 4 straight years. At that pace we will be reach capacity in 2026/2027 (or 2028/2029 even if the growth rate reduces by half). In maximizing our current facility, we are adding a 4th weekend service in early 2025 for auditorium space nearing capacity, but even more because of growth in SuncrestKids.

  • What size will the new building be?
In square footage terms, our current facility is 38K. In the recent master planning we aimed at 50-55K for our first phase, planned so it can expand to 120K as future phases are needed.  Obviously, there is a balance of preparing for future growth while being financially responsible.

  • What is the status of the retail project on the new land?
This is entirely separate from the church building process.  We will do another update in our January financial letter as we do each year.  We slowed the pace of this to ensure it worked well with the church master planning.  It is proceeding again, likely to be constructed next year.

  • Will the PRIMED offering mean we won’t need a giving campaign when we build?
No.  This is so we are prepared to say yes.  When the actual construction takes place, a strong giving campaign will be essential.

  • What is the financial goal for PRIMED?
We haven’t set one – we genuinely trust that if everyone does a gift that stretches them, we will have what we need to be prepared for our next steps. Our largest single offerings ever have been just over $200,000 and we are confident this will exceed that.

  • Can I give online? How do I make sure it goes to PRIMED?
Shortly before the giving weekend, we’ll add PRIMED as an option for giving in our app or online.  If giving by check, it will go to PRIMED if it is in the PRIMED envelope or clearly marked for PRIMED in the memo line.

  • What else?
On the envelope you’ll turn in during our services (even if you gave online), there is a spot for you to briefly share your dreams for our church and the impact it can make. We are excited to see what everyone shares as we take this step together.

The "Why" for PRIMED

We’ve seen God work in some AMAZING ways over the last 30 years…
Over the next few years we’re seeing a critical need to expand our facilities to accommodate the growth that God has brought to our church. Our current building can serve approximately 2000 people a weekend. Here’s the course we’re currently on growth-wise…
